The PEACE PROJECT

Our Mission ... To foster an atmosphere of non-violence and respect by creating opportunities for youth leadership through open and safe discussion on the issues of dating, domestic and sexual violence and bullying; thereby ensuring a positive future for Sanders County.
What is the PEACE Project? The PEACE project is a teen prevention program that helps youth to empower each other through education. PEACE offers teens and the community tow major services: 1. Community Education 2. Teen specific peer counseling
Why do you need PEACE educators? Every youth in our community deserves to be violence free, and through the tireless efforts from the PEACE project, we ensure that all youth have the tools to know their rights and how to exercise them.
How can a student become a PEACE volunteer? Any student in Sanders County, second semester freshman through first semester seniors may attend our bi-annual PEACE volunteer training. Training is primarily on weekends and evenings and is 26 hours. Volunteers may be educators, advocates or both.
Benefits of being involved: PEACE volunteers are leaders in the community and in their schools. They shine in the area of public relations, enhance communication skills, learn about boundaries, develop an understanding of important topics, work as a team, have fun and provide a valuable service to their peers.
Community Education: PEACE presentations will eventually be offered to all schools in Sanders County to grades 5 through 12, September through May. Teen volunteers will do the actual presentations to classes of peers. PEACE volunteers will not present in their "home" school, but will travel to nearby schools to present. Presentations will include: Personal rights, date rape, sexual harassment, dating violence, sexual abuse, (grades 5 & 6 only) healthy relationships and bullying.
